About me

I’m Maki, an origami instructor, jewellery maker and artist behind Maki’s Art. I combine my love of creating and making new things with sharing my Japanese culture with others.

I started Maki’s Art in 2014 in Brisbane as a way to share my culture, and it has kept growing over the years. I am now based in a small country town called Esk, where I live with my family and have my studio. I am a mum of 4 kids, and we have 3 pets - a duck, a chook and a cat. I like to keep busy and make new things.

I love attending markets for the people I meet, the challenge of growing my small business, and being inspired by other artists and stall holders.

I also run art and craft workshops, and make art displays for events and shows.
